Youth Group Theatre Education Program
The Youth Group Program invites students aged 10 years and over to be part of many wonderful experiences in theatre development and performance at Upscale Theatre Company.
Our Youth Group Theatre Program allows students the opportunity to develop fundamental skills in theatre through their work in a musical production, run by experienced professionals and Theatre Leader volunteers. Participants develop their confidence in performance, consider character development, and are encouraged to achieve success in the areas of creative risk-taking, team building, singing, acting, choreography training and ensemble work.
Participants will also be introduced to technical or "behind-the-scenes" elements which are key to any successful theatre performance. These areas include hair and makeup, costuming, set design and decoration, props design and sound and lighting.
Our Youth Group Program runs once per year. We offer 6 months of weekly Friday rehearsals, as well as an all-day theatre summer intensive in July. Students are cast in a musical and work towards the production of that show. Our hard work together culminates in several public performances in the gorgeous Harmony Creek Community Centre stage space at 15 Harmony Rd. N., Oshawa
